The Double-barrel Silent Pistol is a compact, double-barrel derringer-type pistol developed in the Soviet Union in 1972 . It was specifically designed for the KGB and Spetsnaz special forces as a close-range, silent assassination weapon .

Despite its small size—just 115mm in length—the Groza fires a unique 7.62×38mm SP-3 cartridge. This round features a piston inside the casing that traps the expanding gases, making the shot nearly silent and flashless without needing a bulky suppressor . The weapon is reloaded by breaking open the frame and manually inserting two rounds, often with a disposable metal clip . It saw operational use during the Soviet-Afghan War and the Cold War in Central America
