Deinocheirus Mirificus: “unusual horrible hand”

Dinosaur from Mongolian Nemegt Formation of Late Cretaceous, well known for its at the time unusual arms and history in paleontologic research. Its original remains, found in 1970, were only the strange arms, leaving the rest of the body unknown. Various reconstructions portrayed it as a predator, creature similar to Therizinosaurs and so on.

In 2013 however, true form was figured out, thanks to more fossil material restored from the grip of fossil poachers. Skull, bodyplan and even likely diet was described.

Stomach content of Deinocheirus is made from gastrolits and fish remains, making it likely an omnivore, feeding on both animals and plants, given to its skull shape, related dinosaurs and weak bite force.
