Start with the destination, then choose the model. A free download, an editable project and a ready-to-use Minecraft pack are different things.

Fill in a compatibility card
Code:
Destination: Java item/block, Bedrock entity, or named server plugin
Minecraft and plugin versions:
Required model format:
Texture and animation requirements:
Included files:
License/source:
Minimal test result:
The resource description should tell you what is supplied. Check for the actual model files, textures, animation files where needed, and any configuration the destination requires. Do not assume a thumbnail proves that every dependency or editable source file is included.

Import a small example first
Keep the original archive and editable project separate from your test export. Pick one model with a recognizable texture. Follow the destination's file layout and version requirements, then test it in game. Check scale, orientation, texture paths, pivots and one animation if animation is supported. If it fails, return to the smallest example before merging it into a large pack.

Compare like with like
Compare packs intended for the same platform. A Blockbench project intended for Bedrock and a Java plugin's model workflow may need different exporters and configuration. Renaming an extension does not convert the model. Keep an original project copy so export experiments do not become your only copy.

Record what worked
Share the target version, exporter, minimal file tree and the first relevant error when asking for help. A screenshot in the editor plus one in game makes texture and transform problems easier to diagnose. Only share files and textures you have permission to publish.

Browse Minecraft model packs and check each resource's access terms. Some listings require Ultra; the category is not a promise that every pack is free. Individual model listings provide another way to compare formats and previews.
