Bison​

A bison is a large bovine in the genus Bison
The American and eropean bison are among the largest surviving terrestrial animals in North America and Europe. They are typical artiodactyl (cloven hooved) ungulates, and are similar in appearance to other bovines. They are broad and muscular with shaggy coats of long hair. Adults grow up to 2 metres in height and 3.5 m in length for American bison
Bison are nomadic grazers and travel in herds. The bulls leave the herds of females at two or three years of age, and join a herd of males, which usually are smaller than female herds.

Bison were a significant resource for Indigenous peoples of North America for food and raw materials until near extinction in the late 19th century.

Owing to their size, bison have few predators. Five exceptions are humans, grey wolves, cougars, grizzly bears, and coyotes. Wolves generally take down a bison while in a pack, .Grizzly bears also consume bison, often by driving off the pack and consuming the wolves' kill.
