The Duchess used her powers of hypnosis to attempt to take over the overlander's mind. She could feel his will fighting back, but she put everything into taking control of him. Soon, the boy's will began to crumble. But just as she thought she was about to remove his free will, the boy did something unexpected. He raised his sword in front of him, and it flashed a blue light. When the light faded, the boy's eyes returned to normal and she felt the strings tying his mind to her will instantly severed.

"Wh-what? How could this be?" she stammered. She was powerless against him.

David looked at her with unbridled fury. No matter what tricks the Duchess had in store for him, he would not be conquered. Armed with the sword of heroes, he continued his approach, determined to finish the mission that Lisra had left to him.
