Duchess Iris looked back at Malrus, who was still performing the ritual to restore his full power. She was on her own. As the warrior closed the distance between them, she tried desperately to get away, only to trip backwards and land on the ground.

"Wh-whatever you want, I can give it to you! Power? Emeralds? All the resources of the Ender's Eye!?" But yet, David was uninterested in her offers. "I can bring her back! Lisra, the girl, I can bring her back!" she stammered, but she could see in his eyes he did not believe her. She kept backing away, but David was still gaining.

"Please! You're supposed to be a hero! Please don't kill me!" she begged hysterically, before hearing a grunt from Malrus. She looked back at him again, hoping he would have gained the power he needed to save her.

"Sad duchess. Your last words and they are a plea to that animal's goodwill? Goodbye Iris, you're of no use to me dead." he told her in a condescending tone.
