Structure and Lilies: The “lilies” are decorated structures, up to 25 meters high, that represent different saints and religious symbols. Made entirely of wood, these lilies are carried on the shoulders of the “porters”, groups of men who, with great physical effort and coordination, lift and move these imposing constructions during the procession. Each lily consists of a base and a tall pyramidal structure, decorated with flowers, ribbons and other ornaments. The size of each lily can vary, but they are generally 20 to 25 meters high. As for the number of bearers, each lily is typically carried by about 128 people, who take turns carrying the weight and maintaining the pace of the walk. In addition to the lilies, there are competitions between the different districts of the city and entertainment activities such as concerts and shows.
