Based on Real life Akula class Submarine,

The Akula class (Soviet designation Project 971 Shchuka-B) is a series of fourth-generation nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSNs) first deployed by the Soviet Navy in 1986.

Naming Confusions: "Akula" means shark in Russian. Interestingly, the Soviet Union used the name "Akula" for its massive ballistic missile subs (which NATO calls the Typhoon class) Akula is actually the Western NATO reporting name, while Russia calls it Shchuka-B.
