The Challenger 3 is the British Army's future main battle tank, combining the proven durability of the Challenger 2 with modern protection, electronics, and battlefield networking to remain effective in future conflicts.

The British Army plans to upgrade 148 Challenger 2 tanks to the Challenger 3 standard. Initial operational capability is expected during the late 2020s, with the full fleet planned to be in service by 2030.
